The Rutgers ADRD Research Community

Our goal is to cultivate a dynamic ADRD research community, providing a supportive framework for collaboration and advancement among Rutgers scientists. Through infrastructure for pilot grants, ongoing translational work in progress meetings integrating basic and clinical scientists, and annual prizes for young investigators’ superb publications, we aim to foster an environment where ideas thrive. Additionally, our annual symposiums, invited talks, and structured mentorship program will further enrich our community. Together, let’s embark on this journey of exploration and innovation, united as a community of investigators committed to tackling ADRD.

Pilot Grants

Pilot Grants

The ADRD Center offers yearly a pilot grant to young investigators to support innovative studies aimed at uncovering new insights into the disease’s mechanisms and potential interventions, fostering creativity towards advancements in ADRD treatment and care.

Best Research Paper of the Year

Best Research Paper of the Year

The ADRD Center annually acknowledges an outstanding publication. This recognition celebrates excellence in basic or clinical science, spotlighting groundbreaking studies that significantly impact our understanding of ADRD or advance us closer to therapeutic breakthroughs.

Symposiums

Symposiums

The ADRD Center organizes an annual symposium, uniting top researchers, clinicians, and the ADRD community. This event fosters collaborations and encourages interdisciplinary dialogue. It aims to drive progress towards enhanced diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies for ADRD.

Invited Talks

Invited Talks

Nationally and internationally renowned experts in ADRD research are invited to present talks at our center, sharing their latest findings, insights, and perspectives. These talks offer valuable opportunities for education, inspiration, networking, and sparking new avenues of investigation within our community.

Translational Work in Progress

Translational Work in Progress

These are interactive forums where basic and clinical researchers bridge laboratory discoveries with clinical applications. In addition to providing opportunities for discussions about specific projects, these meetings foster collaborations, and accelerate the translation of scientific findings into real-world benefits for patients, advancing diagnosis and treatment.

Mentorship Program

Collaborative Approach Circular Graphic

In addition to our overarching vision for the ADRD center, we will develop a deeper layer of infrastructure aimed at catalyzing breakthroughs in ADRD research. This includes the establishment of a comprehensive cohort of offspring of AD participants, meticulously characterized across sociodemographics, cognition, lifestyle, biomarkers, brain imaging, and genetics. Concurrently, we are launching investigator-initiated clinical trials with harmonized data collection protocols, aligning seamlessly with the cohort’s efforts.

Our core faculty members will spearhead each facet of phenotyping, serving as leaders in their respective domains. We extend an open invitation to the entire Rutgers and other ADRD research communities to capitalize on and contribute to this collaborative initiative, with the shared goal of expediting solutions for ADRD prevention. We aim to share observational results with ADRD basic scientists to investigate underlying mechanisms and translate these findings into novel therapeutic interventions within our collaborative environment.
