Understanding Risk Factors
A significant majority of Americans, around two-thirds, possess at least one significant potential risk factor for dementia. Research indicates that by addressing specific changeable risk factors and encouraging healthy habits, it’s possible to lower the likelihood of cognitive decline, potentially reducing the risk of dementia, and safeguarding cognitive well-being.

-
Being Physically Active
-
Quitting or never starting smoking.
-
Being heart-healthy, especially managing midlife high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity
-
Getting enough sleep
-
Remaining socially active
